Jakarta, Election Supervisory Body - Chairman of the Election Supervisory Body Abhan admitted, the implementation of the 2020 elections during the co-19 pandemic in December is not easy for the election organizers. Even so, he was optimistic that the implementation could be done well as long as he paid attention to the four main conditions.

First, Abhan said, the certainty of the legal framework must be strong before starting the stages. As is known, Government Regulation Substitute Law (Perppu) Number 2 the Year 2020, KPU Regulation (PKPU) Number 5 the Year 2020 About Stages, Schedules, and Programs, KPU and Bawaslu Circular Letter related to the implementation of Pilkada during the COVID-19 pandemic are officially endorsed.

"This means that the law is strong and could be legitimacy for the continued implementation of the 2020 elections," he said in the Bawaslu Building, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (06/23/2020).

Technical readiness, continued Abhan, was the second requirement that had to be prepared by the organizers of both the KPU and Bawaslu to the lowest levels. Moreover, factual verification of the support of individual candidates has been carried out starting Wednesday, June 24, 2020, which means Bawaslu needs to conduct close supervision of the KPU.

"Supervision of factual verification is important to ensure this candidate will meet the requirements or not because this can be a decision of the Commission so we have a big role," said the Coordinator of the HR Division and the Bawaslu Organization.

Furthermore, the third condition, Abhan stressed again related to budget support from the central and regional governments. He sees the matter of the budget being crucial because if it is difficult to be lowered then the stages can also be hampered, especially for the purchase of protective equipment from co-19.

Finally, Abhan reminded him to have self-awareness in implementing strict and disciplined co-19 prevention protocols. Not only election participants, organizers, the government but also the community especially there will be stages of the elections that require direct meetings.

"The demise of the heroes of democracy due to work during the 2019 elections can be made a lesson. Then it is important that this becomes a joint commitment, complying with the health protocol for the success of the 2020 elections," concluded Abhan.
